Where is it?
Redwood Montessori Nursery is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
What were we hired to do?
Redwood Montessori Nursery hired Moon Kids to design, build and install a natural outdoor play area under large shade sails. The centrepiece is a timber treehouse play structure on stilts, with slatted walls, arched and round porthole windows, a cleated climbing ramp, two yellow slides and an enclosed slatted crawl bridge with green hoops, set over a log-edged sand pit. Around it we added a grassy mound with a crawl tunnel, hexagonal timber stepping blocks, a balance beam and a tricycle track. A winding run of maroon and cream timber arches leads children along a blue and yellow “river” pathway. Under a canopy of coloured acrylic circles, the covered walkway holds role-play market stalls with striped awnings, play kitchens, picnic tables, benches, log stools, a woodwork bench, sand and chalkboard tables, and padded column protectors. House-shaped wall panels and a large chalkboard finish the space, all in natural timber with child-safe, rounded edges and hard-wearing outdoor finishes.
