Where is it?
NLCS (North London Collegiate School) is located in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, Dubai, UAE.
What were we hired to do?
NLCS hired Moon Kids to design, build and install a complete Foundation Stage outdoor playground, delivered from a full set of thirty shop drawings and a general layout plan. The works started with the removal of existing items, new rubber safety flooring with a themed roadway circuit, and replacement drain covers, before the play landscape was built up around a hill with a tunnel and slide, an adventure bird’s nest climber, a timber gantry with gymnastic rings and stepping pods, and a rope and log clamber bridge. A performance stage with a majlis-style roof anchors the space, supported by role-play areas including a garage with a petrol pump, a play kitchen, a builder set with brick boxes, a tool hanging board and a wooden scale with bucket. Messy and sensory play runs through a bordered sand pit, a water barrel with runway and a new water feature completed with full civil and MEP works, alongside outdoor xylophones, wall games, a sensory ball wall and art easels on wheels. Benches, a picnic table, log stools, planter boxes, picket fencing with gates, wooden doors and storage cupboards complete the scheme, all made in natural timber at child-safe heights with rounded edges and hard-wearing outdoor finishes.
